Driving mobile downloads
Mobio made mobile applications for feature phones, an idea that in 2006 was about two years ahead of the launch of the iPhone and ahead of its time. At the time, getting a downloadable application onto a feature phone was a daunting challenge. The company targeted the youth market with applications like games and a cheap gas finder, some of the first such applications ever created for the mobile phone.
The consumer website coupled with a highly usable mobile application drove over 50,000 downloads of the company’s initial application.
This campaign was one of the first in the US to be based on Flickr photos as opposed to stock.
