Control Group

A group that serves as a baseline for comparison. If you are testing an offer, the control group might receive “no offer” or perhaps the “control offer.”  The control offer is one that you know works – because you’ve tested it before.  The purpose of your test is to “beat control” which is a term you sometimes hear bandied about by direct response professionals.
